Asia Pacific Union For Housing Finance

International Conference 30-31 Jan 2012

International Conference Growth with stability in Affordable Housing Markets on January 30 - 31, 2012 New Delhi, India

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I welcome all the Delegates and Speakers to the Second International Conference on Housing Finance on the theme “Growth with Stability in the Affordable Housing Markets“, during January 30-31, 2012 at New Delhi, India. The first international conference was held on January 27-28, 2010 under the combined aegis of National Housing Bank (NHB), and Asia Pacific Union for Housing Finance (APUHF) Forum, whose Secretariat is hosted by NHB.  This year, we are also joined by the Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Housing and Urban Development (APMCHUD) in this Conference.  The programme has been structured with a view to deliberate on a wide range of global issues that the mortgage industry faces in recent times. The thrust of the Conference is on “growth”, “stability” and “affordability” – the three challenges being faced by most countries across the world in addressing their housing needs of their vast majority of the population.

The APUHF – a knowledge network launched in 2010 with the Secretariat and website being hosted by NHB, has over the last two years consolidated its approach in close partnership with other countries in this region and has evolved as a Union for sharing knowledge, experiences, leanings amongst the member countries for greater understanding and appreciation of issues connected with housing and housing finance. The Union will also seek to serve as an Advocacy Forum promoting the cause of affordable housing in the region, engaging attention of various stakeholders and Policy makers.

We are extremely happy to host this Conference. I express my sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all the resource persons, speakers, panelists, experts and delegates of this Conference who have made this Event possible. We deeply appreciate the guidance and support received from all sections of the Government and non-government institutions. Our  endeavor will be to develop this initiative into a highly interactive and dynamic model for achieving the objectives of the Union. Serving this over-arching objective, this Conference is an important event, bringing together a number of country representatives to deliberate on common themes and issues.

We express our deep gratitude to the Hon'ble Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Union Minister of Culture, Kumari Selja for her valuable guidance and support to the Conference.

Looking forward to receiving your valuable recommendations and feedback
